Evergreen.ai Launches: AI-Powered Financial Planning, On Demand

Evergreen.ai has launched an AI-powered financial planning app that delivers personalized advice using a user’s real accounts, taxes, and financial goals.

Getting real financial advice has always been expensive or out of reach for most people. Evergreen.ai wants to change that, launching as an AI-powered financial advice app built to help everyday Americans make smarter money decisions using their own financial picture, on demand, and for free during its beta.

Evergreen.ai was founded by Bill Harris, the former CEO of PayPal and Intuit, and founder of Personal Capital, an investment firm that grew to $23 billion in client assets. He’s joined by co-founder and CTO Bryan Godwin, who has filed seven pending patents related to the platform. Together, they built Evergreen.ai to bring the financial techniques once reserved for wealthy investors to a much wider audience.

Why Harris Built It

Harris points to a simple gap in the market: a 2024 survey found that 73% of American adults don’t use a financial advisor, yet more people are turning to general-purpose AI chatbots for financial guidance instead. His concern is that those chatbots often lack the personalized data needed for situation-specific answers and aren’t built to protect the financial details people share with them. That gap is exactly what Evergreen.ai is designed to close.

What sets Evergreen.ai apart is its approach to the math itself. Rather than letting a language model calculate tax and financial numbers, the platform runs a deterministic calculation engine to produce consistent, verifiable results, then uses a generative interface to present each answer in formats like text, tables, charts, and interactive calculations. As Godwin put it, “the harness matters as much as the model.”

What You Can Actually Do With It

Evergreen.ai covers a wide range of financial decisions through built-in calculation tools. That includes financial planning with short-term cash flow and long-term retirement projections, equity compensation covering options, RSUs, and QSBS, and net worth tracking through linked bank, broker, and credit accounts. It also handles home ownership calculators comparing renting versus buying, retirement account comparisons across 401(k)s, IRAs, and Roth conversions, college savings planning, and tax strategies like tax-loss harvesting and charitable giving.

Beyond single calculations, the app is built to handle lifetime planning questions like “Can I retire early?” by exploring the trade-offs between working, spending, and long-term financial security. It can also walk users through the pros and cons of different tax-advantaged accounts, comparing traditional and Roth 401(k)s, traditional and Roth IRAs, and HSAs side by side. The goal is to turn complicated, situation-specific decisions into something a regular person can actually reason through.

Security Built Around Real Money

Handling real financial data means security has to come first. Account linking runs through Plaid, so bank credentials are never shared directly with the AI, and user data is encrypted, never sold to third parties, and never used to train public AI models.

Evergreen.ai isn’t just an app built on top of a language model, it’s offered through Evergreen Wealth Advisors, an SEC-registered investment advisor and fiduciary. That gives it a regulatory backbone that most consumer-facing AI chatbots simply don’t have, though the company is clear that its disclosures still classify the service as general education and calculators, not formal legal, tax, or estate planning counsel.

Free Through the Beta Period

Evergreen.ai is available now on mobile and desktop browsers, and consumers who register during the public beta will get free access through January 1, 2028. For a service built around Harris’s 30-year track record in consumer fintech, that’s a fairly generous window to try it out risk-free.

As AI becomes more involved in personal finance, tools like Evergreen.ai could make real financial planning easier to access for people who were priced out of traditional advisors. Still, AI-generated guidance should always be independently verified before making major investment, tax, borrowing, or long-term financial decisions, no matter how personalized the numbers look.
